QAR 10000 salary gratuity Qatar showing QAR 14,000 after 2 years, QAR 35,000 after 5 years and QAR 70,000 after 10 years

QAR 10,000 Salary Gratuity in Qatar (2026): 21 Days Is the Floor, Not the Ceiling

Your QAR 10000 salary gratuity is QAR 35,000 after five years and QAR 70,000 after ten — at the statutory rate.

Two things can move that figure substantially, and at this salary level both are worth checking before you accept whatever HR puts in front of you.

The first pushes the number up: Article 54 sets a minimum, and a number of Qatari contracts provide more than it. The second pushes it down: gratuity runs on basic salary, and at QAR 10,000 a large share of the package is often allowances.

Together they can swing your ten-year figure between QAR 42,000 and QAR 100,000.

Quick Answer

Daily wage: QAR 10,000 ÷ 30 = QAR 333.33

Every year is worth the same QAR 7,000. Qatar applies a flat rate with no increase after five or ten years — our QAR 5,000 breakdown covers why that myth persists.

There is no maximum cap.

Article 54 Sets a Minimum, Not a Fixed Amount

The statutory entitlement is not less than three weeks’ basic wage for each year of service. An employer cannot pay below it.

They can agree to pay above it, and a meaningful number of companies in Qatar do — most commonly 30 days per year rather than 21.

Where to look for an enhanced rate

Your employment contract. Look for any clause specifying a number of days per year for end-of-service benefits, or a formula that differs from Article 54.

Your offer letter or its annexure. Enhanced terms are sometimes set out there rather than in the main contract body.

Your company handbook or HR policy. Some employers set this at policy level. If the policy has been applied consistently, it carries weight.

If none of those say anything, the statutory 21 days applies. It takes a few minutes to check, and at this salary level it’s the single highest-value thing you can do before a settlement meeting.

Which Salary They Used Matters More

This is where the figure usually goes the other way.

Qatar gratuity is calculated on basic salary only. Housing allowance, transport allowance, food allowance, overtime, commission and bonuses are all excluded.

At QAR 10,000 a month, packages are frequently structured with a modest basic and a large allowance component:

Contract structureBasic used10-year gratuity
QAR 10,000 all basic10,000QAR 70,000
60% basic (6,000 + 4,000 allowances)6,000QAR 42,000
50% basic (5,000 + 5,000 allowances)5,000QAR 35,000

QAR 35,000 between the top and bottom row. Same monthly income, same decade of work.

None of this is unlawful. Qatar sets no minimum ratio of basic to allowances, which means the time to raise it is when you accept an offer rather than when you resign. Two roles at QAR 10,000 can be worth tens of thousands of riyals apart over several years, purely on how the contract splits them.

Find the line in your contract that says basic salary. If it isn’t itemised, ask HR for a written breakdown.

A Late Pay Rise Applies Backwards

One rule that works in your favour: the calculation uses your last basic salary, not an average across your service.

If you spent six years on QAR 7,000 basic and were raised to QAR 10,000 in your final year, all seven years are calculated at QAR 10,000 — QAR 49,000 rather than QAR 34,300.

If a salary review is due and you’re weighing an exit, that’s worth factoring in. And when you negotiate, ask for the increase on basic, not on allowances. An extra QAR 1,000 in housing is worth nothing at all to your gratuity.

Part Years Count in Proportion

ServiceGratuity
1 year 6 monthsQAR 10,500
2 years 3 monthsQAR 15,750
3 years 6 monthsQAR 24,500
4 years 8 monthsQAR 32,667
5 years 6 monthsQAR 38,500
7 years 4 monthsQAR 51,333

Nothing is rounded down after your first year. Below twelve months, nothing is payable.

Resigning Doesn’t Reduce It

Once you’ve completed a year of continuous service, resignation, termination, contract expiry and retirement all pay the same amount. Contract type makes no difference either.

The only exception is dismissal under Article 61, which covers specific serious misconduct — forged documents, disclosing confidential information, causing serious financial loss, assault at the workplace, prolonged unexplained absence, or a conviction involving honour or honesty.

Outside those circumstances, gratuity is a statutory entitlement. It cannot be withheld as leverage during an exit, and it cannot be signed away by contract.

Check Your Start Date

Two rules that often add years to a service period.

Renewals don’t reset it. An employee on their fifth two-year contract has ten years of service, not two. If your settlement was calculated from your latest contract date, that’s an error — and at this salary the difference between two years and ten is QAR 56,000.

The two-month rule. Service counts as continuous even if interrupted, provided the break wasn’t a dismissal under Article 61 and you returned within two months.

What Can Reduce the Pay out

Unpaid leave. Days of unpaid absence are generally excluded from the service period. On QAR 10,000 basic each unpaid day costs about QAR 19.18, so a month of unpaid leave is roughly QAR 575. Paid annual and sick leave don’t count against you.

Working-day basis. Some industries calculate on a working-day rather than a 30-day calendar month. Both are permitted, provided the result doesn’t fall below the statutory minimum.

Deductions. Loans, salary advances and other legally recoverable amounts may be deducted, itemised.

When You Should Be Paid

Article 54 requires payment of the gratuity and any other amounts due at the date the employment relationship ends.

For non-Qatari employees, residency cancellation must be completed within two weeks under Article 57. The two are separate obligations — a pending visa cancellation is not a lawful reason to delay your settlement.

Settle before you leave the country.

What Else Belongs in Your Settlement

At this salary level the settlement usually runs to several lines beyond the gratuity: unpaid salary to your last working day, encashment of unused annual leave, notice pay where the employer waived your notice, a repatriation ticket where the contract provides one, and any pending commission or bonus.

Ask for the whole thing itemised, and reconcile every line before signing a release.

If the Figure Doesn’t Reconcile

Request a written settlement statement showing four things: the basic salary used, your service start and end dates, the number of days applied per year, and every deduction.

If the days applied are 21 and your contract says 30, raise it. If the basic salary is lower than your contract states, raise that. If the start date is your latest renewal rather than your original joining date, raise that too.

Where it isn’t resolved internally, you can submit a complaint through the Ministry of Labour’s official channels. Bring your contract and renewals, Qatar ID, salary slips, WPS records and your resignation or termination letter.

Establish Your Own Figure First

Enter your basic salary — from the contract, not the package — and your original joining date in the Qatar Gratuity Calculator.

Work out the gross figure before you look at the statement. Then the only thing left to examine is the difference, which is a much shorter conversation.
