About Us | UAE & GCC Gratuity Calculator

Farhan · Founder, GCC Gratuity Calculator

My name is Farhan. I build reference tools that turn dense legislation into something an ordinary employee can actually use.

This site exists because of one discovery. Several of the highest-ranking UAE gratuity calculators on Google are still applying Federal Law No. 8 of 1980 — a law repealed in February 2022. They tell people they will lose one third of their gratuity for resigning before three years of service, and two thirds before five. That has not been true for years. Under Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, resignation and termination pay exactly the same amount.

An employee who reads that, accepts a lower settlement and never questions it can lose thousands of dirhams without ever knowing it happened.

So I built the calculator I wished existed. Every rule here is traced back to the legislation itself — the decree-law, the executive regulations, the cabinet resolutions, and the UAE Government Portal. Not to other websites, which is how outdated rules spread in the first place.

Where the law is genuinely unclear, the page says so rather than guessing. Where it changes, the calculator and the guide are updated together, and the date of that review appears on the page.

That is the standard this site is held to.

What this site covers

Gratuity HUB provides free end-of-service calculators and written guides for six Gulf states:

United Arab Emirates · Saudi Arabia · Qatar · Kuwait · Bahrain · Oman

Each country has its own calculator, built to its own labour law. The formulas are not interchangeable — Saudi Arabia uses half a month’s wage for the first five years, the UAE uses 21 days of basic salary, and the definition of “wage” itself differs between them. Using the wrong country’s formula produces a wrong number, so each one is kept separate.

Alongside the calculators, the site publishes salary-specific worked examples and guides on the situations people actually search for: resigning before completing a year, unpaid gratuity, free zone rules, and how a final settlement is put together.

How the calculations are built

Every rule on this site comes from primary legal sources:

  • UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 and its executive regulations — Articles 44, 51, 52 and 53
  • Cabinet Resolution No. 1 of 2022 — part-time and flexible work arrangements
  • Cabinet Resolution No. 96 of 2023 — the alternative end-of-service savings scheme
  • The UAE Government Portal (u.ae) and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE)
  • DIFC and ADGM employment regulations, which operate separately from federal law
  • The corresponding labour laws of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman

Where a rule is disputed or subject to interpretation, the page says so instead of presenting one reading as settled.

How often it is updated

Every page carries a “last updated” date and the specific legal sources it was checked against.

When a law, cabinet resolution or free zone regulation changes, the calculator logic and the written guide are updated together — never one without the other. A calculator that is right while the guide is stale is worse than no calculator at all, because it looks authoritative while giving bad advice.

If you find something on this site that no longer matches the current law, please tell me. Corrections are made publicly, with the change noted on the page.

What this site is not

This is not a law firm, an HR consultancy, or a licensed advisory service, and it is not affiliated with MOHRE or any government body.

The calculators give you an estimate — enough to check your employer’s figure, understand where it came from, and ask informed questions before you sign anything. No calculator can account for every clause in every contract, and none of this replaces legal advice.

For a binding determination, contact MOHRE or a UAE-licensed legal professional.

Your privacy

The calculators run in your browser. Your salary figures, employment dates and results are processed on your own device and are not transmitted to us or stored on our servers.
