AED 6000 Salary Gratuity in UAE (2026): How Much You Actually Get
Your AED 6000 salary gratuity comes to AED 21,000 after five years and AED 51,000 after ten — provided AED 6,000 is your basic salary. The full table is below. One thing to check first, though. At this salary level in the UAE, AED 6,000 is often the total package rather than the basic. If your basic is AED 3,000 with the rest paid as allowances, your five-year figure is AED 10,500 — less than half. This guide covers both.
All figures follow the current UAE Labour Law, Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021.
Quick Answer: AED 6000 Salary Gratuity by Years of Service
Daily wage: AED 6,000 ÷ 30 = AED 200
| Years of service | Gratuity |
|---|---|
| 1 year | AED 4,200 |
| 2 years | AED 8,400 |
| 3 years | AED 12,600 |
| 4 years | AED 16,800 |
| 5 years | AED 21,000 |
| 6 years | AED 27,000 |
| 7 years | AED 33,000 |
| 8 years | AED 39,000 |
| 10 years | AED 51,000 |
| 15 years | AED 81,000 |
| 20 years | AED 111,000 |
Each of your first five years adds AED 4,200. From year six onward, each year adds AED 6,000.
Resigning does not reduce any of these figures.
Is AED 6000 Your Basic, or Your Package?
This is the one thing that changes everything above, so it is worth two minutes.
UAE contracts usually split your monthly pay into a basic salary plus allowances for housing, transport and sometimes utilities. Gratuity is calculated on the basic portion alone. Allowances, overtime, commission and bonuses are all excluded.
At the AED 6,000 level, a 50–60% basic split is common. Here is what that means after five years:
| Contract structure | Basic used | Gratuity after 5 years |
|---|---|---|
| AED 6,000 all basic | 6,000 | AED 21,000 |
| 60% basic (3,600 + 2,400 allowances) | 3,600 | AED 12,600 |
| 50% basic (3,000 + 3,000 allowances) | 3,000 | AED 10,500 |
AED 10,500 between the top and bottom row — same monthly income, same five years.
This was decided when you signed your contract. Nothing you do at the end changes it, which is exactly why it is worth knowing now rather than in your settlement meeting.

Where to Check Your Basic Salary
Three places, in order of authority.
Your MOHRE labour contract
This is the document that governs. The contract registered with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation shows basic salary on its own line, separate from allowances.
View it through the MOHRE app, or ask HR for a copy.
Your payslip
Most UAE payslips itemise the split. If yours shows a single figure with no breakdown, ask HR for an itemised version — you are entitled to see how your pay is structured.
Your offer letter
Useful, but treat it as secondary. Offer letters and MOHRE contracts sometimes disagree, and where they differ, the registered contract governs.
If your offer letter says AED 6,000 basic but your MOHRE contract shows AED 3,000 basic plus allowances, your gratuity follows the contract. Worth confirming before you resign, not after.
If Your Basic Is AED 3,600
A common 60% split. Daily wage AED 120.
| Years of service | Gratuity |
|---|---|
| 2 years | AED 5,040 |
| 3 years | AED 7,560 |
| 5 years | AED 12,600 |
| 7 years | AED 19,800 |
| 10 years | AED 30,600 |
If Your Basic Is AED 3,000
A 50% split. Daily wage AED 100.
| Years of service | Gratuity |
|---|---|
| 2 years | AED 4,200 |
| 3 years | AED 6,300 |
| 5 years | AED 10,500 |
| 7 years | AED 16,500 |
| 10 years | AED 25,500 |
At ten years this pays AED 25,500, against AED 51,000 for someone on the same AED 6,000 a month with an all-basic contract. Exactly half.

Year Five Is Worth Waiting For
Your accrual rate rises from 21 days a year to 30 days a year once you complete five years. That applies whatever your basic is.
On a full AED 6,000 basic:
| Leaving at | Gratuity |
|---|---|
| 4 years 11 months | AED 20,650 |
| 5 years 1 month | AED 21,500 |
Two months apart, AED 850 between them. If you are inside your fifth year and weighing up an exit, price both dates before you commit.
Months Count in Proportion
Nothing is rounded down after your first year. On a full AED 6,000 basic:
| Service | Gratuity |
|---|---|
| 1 year 6 months | AED 6,300 |
| 2 years 3 months | AED 9,450 |
| 3 years 6 months | AED 14,700 |
| 4 years 9 months | AED 19,950 |
| 5 years 6 months | AED 24,000 |
| 6 years 8 months | AED 31,000 |
Below twelve months, nothing is payable. There is no partial entitlement in your first year — eleven months earns zero.
What Can Reduce the Amount You Receive
Your entitlement is one figure. What reaches your account can be lower.
Unpaid leave
Days of unpaid absence are removed from your service period before the calculation runs.
On a full AED 6,000 basic, each unpaid day costs about AED 11.51 during your first five years, and AED 16.44 after that. A month of unpaid leave in year three is worth roughly AED 345.
Paid annual leave and paid sick leave are not deducted.
Notice you did not serve
Leaving without completing your notice period allows your employer to deduct payment in lieu. On a one-month notice at AED 6,000, that is AED 6000 off the settlement.
Your gratuity entitlement is unchanged — the settlement is simply smaller.
The two-year ceiling
Total gratuity cannot exceed 24 months of basic salary. On a full AED 6,000 basic that is AED 144,000, reached at roughly twenty-five and a half years. Below that, it never applies.
Resigning Costs You Nothing
Worth stating plainly, because outdated guidance still circulates.
Under Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, resignation and termination pay exactly the same. On AED 6,000 basic with seven years of service, the figure is AED 33,000 either way.
The old one-third and two-thirds scale belonged to a law repealed in February 2022. If a settlement statement reduces your amount because you resigned, ask which provision it relies on.
DIFC and ADGM Work Differently
If you work in DIFC, gratuity was replaced by DEWS in 2020. Your employer contributes monthly — 5.83% of basic salary for the first five years and 8.33% after that — and you receive the accumulated fund rather than a calculated figure.
ADGM operates its own regulations and permits approved savings schemes.
JAFZA, DMCC, DAFZA, Dubai South and the other free zones follow the federal rules, so the tables above apply.
Run Your Own Numbers
The figures here assume clean dates and no deductions. Yours will have a specific joining date, a last working day, and possibly some unpaid leave.
Take the basic salary from your MOHRE contract and enter your real dates in the UAE Gratuity Calculator. You will get a year-by-year breakdown you can print and take into your settlement meeting.
